About the event

(Please note: this workshop is 18+)

Kinusaiga is the art of using scraps of fabric to create an illustration using an adhesive foam board to tuck pieces of scrap fabric into, based on a design that's carved into the adhesive foam using an x-acto blade. For more visual examples of this, even a quick Google search of images will show you the beautiful possibilites!

If you would like to learn how to create an 8x10" inch illustration using this method and these materials, consider signing up for this 2-day workshop! Over the course of the 2 sessions, we'll meet and go over how kinusaiga works, show off the materials we have on hand, and help you develop an idea into a fully realized illustration. If you need help coming up with an idea - we'll also have some basic template options sketched out by our in-house artist, Alex P.!

Materials we provide:

  • 8x10" inch adhesive foam sheet (one per ticket)

  • Scrap Fabric (assortment of colors/finishes/patterns)

  • X-Acto Knife

  • Scissors

  • Paper/Tracing Paper

  • Pencils/Pens

Things you can bring:

  • Your own scrap fabric (scraps work best for this rather than full cuts of fabric)

  • Your ideas! (Recommend bringing your sketchbook if you have one!)

  • If you are left-handed: bringing a set of left-handed scissors is a good idea!

Have questions? Feel free to reach out and ask! We hope to see you there~
