About the event
This workshop is for everyone who gets excited every year about Halloween, but dreads the waste and the cost that can come with it. We want to show you how to create parts of your costume (for whatever occassion) using low-cost materials!
During the course of this workshop, we will explain and breakdown a few different "bases" that can be modified for specific costumes, such as:
HATS: The hat base can be modified for tophats, witch hats, even mushroom hats!
SWORDS/STAFFS: Dressing up as a knight, or maybe as an ancient wizard with staff in hand? This base will help guide you as to how to build those.
GLOWING PROPS: From magic books, to fake candles, to glowing orbs of magic light - we'll talk about what affordable options look like when making things light up! (Not listed, but covered as well: fake books, armor, fake backpacks/Ghostbusters-like pack, fake technology, etc)
First, we'll show you how construction works, and then you'll have a chance to play and experiment on your own - maybe even get your own prop started! We will be providing:
Cardboard
Hot Glue
Painter's Tape
Contact Cement
Craft Foam
Various crafting materials
What we will not be providing:
Paint
Spraypaint
Sealant
(We recommend painting/finishing your work at home!)
If you have any questions, don't hestitate to reach out - and we hope to see you there!
